Fall Session 2003

Information for the Final

Hi Folks! The department's newsgroup server had some problems, and they are rebuilding its files right now. This means I haven't been able to access the newsgroup (nor have any of you, I believe) for the past half-day or more. I have posted your "homework 2" questions. I will post answers later today. For the exam, I encourage you to review all the papers and make sure you're comfortable with the concepts contained therein. Sorry about this disruption in communication!

I saw Fernando's question on the newsgroup before things crashed, but didn't have a chance to respond. For general info on power consumption in CMOS, similar to what I described in class, I found the following notes on-line . They're a bit dated, and I don't like certain details, but they're good enough. I just found these notes from Berkeley, which are also pretty good. The derivation of the (1/2)CV^2 term will appear shortly in the solutions to your "homework 2".

BTW, while looking for websites to refer you to about the low power, I stumbled across www.play-hookey.com, which has some nice explanations of various electronics concepts, if you want a quick intro to some EE background.
