Programming with Robots

Back

We will use a Robots programming environment in our labs to help you learn fundamental programming concepts. This environment was created by Byron Becker at the University of Waterloo in Ontario.

The Robots environment allows you to create a city with streets and avenues. Things can be placed at any intersection in the city. One or more Robots can be added to the city to perform certain tasks such as picking up garbage from intersections, patrolling the city wall, etc.

The following screen snapshot shows a Robot (represented by a red arrow head) traversing a city picking up garbage (represented by yellow dots in intersections):

The Robots programming environment is available for download free of charge from the following web site: http://www.learningwithrobots.com/
