Eclipse

Back

Eclipse is an integrated development environment (IDE) that allows you to edit, compile, run and debug your programs.  We will be using the Eclipse IDE in CPSC 111 in order to facilitate the software development and debugging process.

Instructions for downloading and installing the Eclipse IDE and a corresponding Java Development Kit will be available on the CPSC 111 webCT site. Instructions for accessing the webCT site will be provided in the first week of class.

At first, the Eclipse IDE may appear to be a little overwhelming but remember that it is an extremely powerful environment used by professional developers.  We will not be using all of the functionality of Eclipse in this first course but as you progress through our program you will be exposed to more of what Eclipse can do for you.

You will receive a complete introduction to Eclipse in your CPSC 111 labs.
